July stuff

Well, I'm having enough time to do posting on a monthly schedule now...sheesh! Since it's going to be a hot and muggy day, I'm taking some time in the (relatively) cooler morning for computer time.

Here is the backyard in all it's green glory! And the kids new swingset...did I mention that the one we got them last October was destroyed when one of the trees behind it was felled by a straight-line wind during a March storm? Well it was totally demo'd and boy were the kids upset! It took awhile, but by May we had a new swingset installed and they've been happily using it ever since.

The gardens are doing great...this year our community garden plot is one of the best ones up there. I learned a lot from being one of the worst last year! But live, and learn, has paid off. I have tomato plants that are up to my waist now, and quite a few baby tomato's coming along. The basil is HUGE this year, and I'm not sure if it's our wet, almost Mediterannean climate this summer, fertilizing, or what, but ....sooooo much better than last year's basil ever was! I'm looking forward to hanging it up in the attic.

This year has been the year for hail for us, but it seems to be missing the garden up on the hill, which is about 4 miles from here. Last week we had hail twice, some the size of dimes! So many wild thunderstorms, and more are predicted for tomorrow and especially Wednesday when the humidity is supposed to break for a few days. Here's hoping....did I mention how much I hate humidity?

Look for me lounging on my couch by tomorrow...
